Our recent Coral Tide Bride Ashley was married at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos and she was fortunate enough to book the talented Nyoka Gregory Beauty to be by her side for all her beauty needs throughout her destination wedding. We are loving the end result of Nyoka’s hair and make-up magic and our gorgeous bride Ashley loved it too! We got to know Nyoka a bit better with some Q&A and we encourage destination brides to reach out and develop their beauty vision with her 21 years of expertise in the beauty industry; including wedding hair and makeup services - updo's or down do's, traditional makeup or airbrush.

What brought you into the business and what do you like most about it?
Nyoka: I've always had a passion and a deep love for the beauty industry. I chose to go to cosmetology school right after high school because I loved it so much and couldn't see myself doing anything else. I love the creativity of the beauty industry the most. Being a hairstylist or makeup artist allows me to be creative and think outside the box.
How far in advance do you start working with your destination wedding clients?
Nyoka: Typically clients book a year in advance with me although I did have a bride that booked 2 years in advance with me to ensure that I would be there for her wedding in Jamaica.
What is your favorite part about working destination weddings?
Nyoka: My favorite part about working destination weddings is the opportunity to do what I love outside of the four walls of my studio. When I do destination weddings I feel a bit more free to be creative in the look because the atmosphere is different.
What should destination brides consider when it comes to hair and makeup:
Nyoka:
The time of your ceremony
How many people need hair and/or makeup (1 hour per person minimum)
Humidity and the weather during the season of your wedding (hot summer months or hurricane season)
Hairstyle and makeup look that will last
What's your favorite resort and or area to travel to?
Nyoka: I am a "Secrets" girl! I haven't been to a Secrets resort that I haven't fallen in love with. I would have to say that Secrets The Vine is my favorite resort. Not because it's where I got married but because it caters to all age groups. My second favorite would be the Milwaukee Art Museum. I did a wedding there 11 years ago and the architecture of the building is absolutely breathtaking.
